Welcome! We love to have new singers join our chorus. We accept new members at the beginning of each season: in late August/early September, and again in early January.
You do not need to read music to join the Healdsburg Chorus, and no auditions are required. All we require is that you regularly attend rehearsals and learn (and memorize) the music in preparation for concerts. Audio CDs with your musical part, along with sheet music, will be provided to you so you can learn your music by ear and/or by sight. You will be asked to sing a few notes privately for the Director so that he can place you in the appropriate vocal section.
We rehearse every Monday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Healdsburg Community Church in Healdsburg. As performance dates approach, additional optional rehearsals may be scheduled on Wednesday or Thursday evenings. The Winter season typically runs from late August to December, and our Spring season typically runs from January to mid-May. The chorus is on break during the summer.
What is expected of members? Most important are a love of singing and a good attitude! We ask members to regularly attend rehearsals and to learn their music in a timely fashion. There is a membership fee of $100 for each season (Winter and Spring), which covers part of the costs associated with running the chorus. We also ask members to assist the chorus selling tickets and program advertising, participating in limited fundraising and/or and other occasional projects.
