The Healdsburg Chorus is happy to announce the awarding of the 2023 Betty Zukov and Susan Nelson Music Scholarship. Adeline Waterman, singer/actor, and Sam Vanden Heuval, singer/songwriter/guitarist, from the Healdsburg High School Class of 2023, were awarded $500 scholarships for future studies.
The award were made possible through the Healdsburg Chorus Scholarship Fund. The 2022 award winner was Danial Mahmoudi, performance pianist from Healdsburg High School.
The Betty Zukov Music Scholarship was created in honor of the founding director of the Healdsburg Chorus, beloved teacher and Healdsburg resident Betty Zukov. In April 2019, the Healdsburg Chorus board of directors changed the name of the scholarship to honor, in addition to Betty Zukov, our long-time accompanist Susan Nelson who founded the chorus with Betty in 1988 and retired from the accompanist position in 2019. The scholarship will again be available in 2024 to a graduating high school senior who is a resident of Healdsburg with a history of involvement in music, a demonstrated talent in music, and an interest in a music-related career.
Further details and application form are available at the Healdsburg High School Counseling Office or here.
